ICE's detainee locator is a separate system. Each one answers a different custody question.
Alerts can also arrive after the underlying event because agencies must first enter and transmit data. Keep phone and email details current, but do not treat silence as continued custody. Texas IVSS Counties Changed Notifications
Texas launched IVSS Counties on September 1, 2025. The rollout can change the older county VINE workflow and may allow notification continuity into TDCJ custody. It also means old instructions and screenshots may not match the current path. Gregg County participation and its live screens still need to be checked at the time of use.
The TDCJ annual review documents the IVSS Counties launch. The change is more than a branding detail. It affects where a person searches, how registration works, and whether an existing county registration continues after a transfer. Follow the options displayed by the current service and avoid relying on an archived PIN method.
If a county notification does not appear, return to the actual custodian. Search Gregg's current jail source for county custody, TDCJ for state custody, and the relevant federal system for federal or immigration control. Notification systems report contributed events; they do not decide release and do not create the underlying record.
